General Admission Information
Admission to the Biotechnology Master's Program is open to students with appropriate backgrounds in the sciences, including biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, physics or chemistry.
- The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required.
- Proficiency in English is required.

- Prospective students must fill out an application, submit 3 letters of recommendation, provide a personal statement, CV/Resume, and indicate interest in the Biotechnology Master’s Program.

The Biotechnology Master’s Program is an eight-credit degree which students typically complete over two years.
- The 2026-2027 cost of tuition is $9,320 per credit or $74,560 for eight credits

- The majority of students enrolled in master's programs at Brown are self-supported.
- The Biotechnology Master’s Program offers 1/8 tuition merit scholarships for select qualified students. All students are considered, and there is no separate application or inquiry process.
- The Biotechnology Master’s Program also awards a limited number of 1/8 tuition grants to students with demonstrated financial need. To be considered, students must complete the FAFSA and/or CSS Profile.
- Teaching assistant (TA) appointments are available on a very limited, ad hoc basis.
- Students may also be eligible for federal loans.
- Brown continues its commitment to veterans by collaborating with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on the Post 9/11 GI Bill® and the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program.
- The Biotechnology Master's Program supports experiential learning in which students can participate in a 6-month, paid co-op.
